The Patrol Division is responsible for preserving the peace, protecting life and property, and maintaining the balance between law and order and individual liberty, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is accomplished by constant patrols of the Town's streets by marked and unmarked vehicles, motorcycle, bicycle and foot. Each squad is composed of a Sergeant and Corporal as supervisors and 4 patrol officers. Much of their time is spent being on the lookout for criminal activity, potential disturbances, traffic violations, hazards, dangerous situations/conditions and people in need of assistance.

BIKE PATROL was made possible through a grant from the Division of Motor Vehicles. There are currently 2 officers assigned to the Bike Patrol. They are used in several special events.

POLICE K-9s are instrumental in preventing illicit drug trafficking in our community. The dogs have the ability to detect a wide variety of narcotics with a high degree of accuracy. They can also can track suspects that have fled from a crime scene and assist in locating missing persons.

SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS are on duty 10 hours a week during the school year. Their goal is to assist children crossing the street in a safe manner. Crossing Guards are not certified police officers.

TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT OFFICER utilizes both an unmarked vehicle and a motorcycle to enforce traffic violations such as speeding, aggressive driving, failure to obey traffic signals/lights, and DUIs. They also investigate serious traffic accidents.
