Board of Architectural Review (BAR)
Meets On Second Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm

The Board of Architectural Review determines the appropriateness of property improvements to maintain the historic character of the Town's historic districts and ensure that the historic integrity of buildings and sites is preserved.

Resolutions, Ordinances, and Proclamations ( 1 Files )
During the course of formal Council Meetings, various ordinances, proclamations and resolutions are approved at times. The Town began placing the text of these documents online for easy access, beginning in June 2008. Board of Zoning Appeals ( 8 Files )
Meets On Third Monday of each month at 7:00pm

The Board of Zoning Appeals is responsible for deciding whether variances from the Town's zoning regulations can be granted based upon special physical conditions of property, and hearing appeals of administrative decisions of the Zoning Ordinance or relating to interpretations of the Zoning Map where there is uncertainty as to the location of a zoning district boundary. Following the public hearing, the BZA makes a decision (usually the same evening), which is final, unless someone aggrieved by the decision of the BZA files a petition with the Circuit Court to review the decision of the BZA.
The five members of the Board are appointed by the Circuit Court Judge upon recommendation from the Town Council. All members are appointed at-large and do not represent any particular magisterial district. The current members of the BZA are:

The Planning Commission is a six-member body appointed by the Town Council whose responsibilities include making critical zoning and planning recommendations to the Town Council on matters related to the orderly growth and development of the Town, including such applications as site plans, special use permits, re-zonings and zoning ordinance text amendments. Public hearings provide citizens the opportunity to voice their support for or concerns with applications for development in the Town.
All members are appointed at-large and do not represent any particular magisterial district. The current members of the Planning Commission include:

Applicants must submit a completed Town of Front Royal application form for each position for which they are applying. Resumes are welcome; however a completed Town application is also required as there is information on the application that is generally not included in a resume. Applications may be picked up in person at Town Hall or mailed or faxed upon request. See the Employment Policies section for additional information. Applications are accepted at all times whether a position is advertised or not. They are maintained in an active file for a period of one year after receipt, after which they are shredded.

Project for Registration
Once registered, you will be contacted via E-mail regarding any addenda issued for the project. Addenda shall be inserted in the download document file, which will include the original project information. This file must then be downloaded. Acknowledgement of any issued addenda must be included in submitted documents to be considered a complete, responsive document.
The provided document is typically in either Adobe PDF or AutoCAD DXF format. The Town of Front Royal is not responsible for your ability to read or access any information downloaded from this site. If you experience difficulties reading any information, please contact the Town Engineer.
Bids/Proposals shall be publicly opened by the Purchasing Agent on the date and time specified in the project's advertisement for each individual project. LATE BIDS WILL NOT BE OPENED. All procurement activity of the Town of Front Royal is performed in accordance with the Town Code and all applicable laws and regulations.
After the public opening, bids/proposals will be available for review after being awarded. For your convenience, the list of respondents and project award information shall be posted at this site.
