Variances

A variance is a relaxation of the terms of the Zoning Ordinance that will not be contrary to the public interest and where, owing to the conditions peculiar to the property and not the result of the action of the applicant, a literal enforcement of the ordinance will work undue hardships on the property owner. The Board of Zoning Appeals is appointed to conduct public hearings on variance requests and decide each case on its merits.

Variances from the provisions of the Subdivision Ordinance are decided by the Town Council upon recommendation from the Planning Commission.
