Home Road & Bridge Design Road & Bridge Design The Department of Environmental Services reviews all proposed construction plans connecting to existing Town roads. Designs should include plan and profile views with vertical/horizontal alignment data, average daily traffic data, stormwater conveyance and management, erosion control, maintenance of traffic, and all data necessary for review. The Town has adopted new construction standards, which are available from the Department of Public Works at (540) 635-7819. All proposed road construction and connections thereto must be designed and constructed in conformance with the following criteria, unless otherwise approved by the Department: VDOT - Road Design Manual, Current Edition VDOT - Road and Bridge Standards, 2001 VDOT - Road and Bridge Specifications, 2002 VDOT - Virginia Work Area Protection Manual Standards & Guidelines, Current Edition VDOT - Minimum Standards of Entrances to State Highways, 1998 VDOT - Drainage Manual, 2002 AASHTO - A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets, 2001 VDCR - Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control Handbook, 1992 VDCR - Virginia Stormwater Management Handbook, 1999 Code of the Town of Front Royal, Virginia Regulations from any other applicable review agency or authority Town Road Standard Drawings Town Survey Monumentation Map Town GIS Coverage/Base Coverage   [ Back ]
