The Communications Division is staffed by a Chief Dispatcher, (7) full-time and (2) part-time dispatchers. This Division is a 24-hour, 7-day a week operation and is the hub of the Police Department. They handle over 50,000 calls per year and are the first point of contact the public has with the Police Department. The Communications Division is responsible for all incoming telephone calls such as the Drug Hotline and 9-1-1, which are connected directly to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department. Dispatchers are directly connected to the Virginia State Police via teletype. In addition to police related tasks, the Division handles calls concerning power failures, water line breaks and other citizen concerns that may arise after regular business hours of the Town Government.
