The Department of Tourism is responsible for promoting and marketing Front Royal and Warren County to regional, national and international tourism markets.

The Department also operates and staffs the Visitors Center located at 414 E. Main Street in Downtown Front Royal. Staffed by employees and volunteers, the Visitors Center is open 9:00 am to 5:00 pm 362 days a year (closed New Years Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day) this is in compliance with the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) standards for certification as an Official State Welcome Center.

With an average of 400,000 annual visitors to Shenandoah National Park approximately 10% will utilize the visitors center for information regarding other attractions in this area. The staff greets and guides visitors to local attractions, businesses, restaurants, shops, and other points of interest.
