Eugene R. Tewalt was elected Mayor of the Town of Front Royal on July 1, 2008. Prior to that time, he served on the Council from from July 1, 2000 to June 30, 2004 and from July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2008.

Mayor Tewalt is currently a Project Engineer with Anderson & Associates, Inc. Prior to that time he served as a Project Representative with Chester Engineering and G.W. Clifford and Associates. Mr. Tewalt was also a Consultant with Rice Associates Surveying. Between 1974 and 1998 he served as the Director of Public Works/Engineer and Zoning Administrator for the Town of Front Royal.

Mayor Tewalt holds degrees in both Highway Engineering and Civil Engineering. Mayor Tewalt has also earned certification from the Commonwealth of Virginia in Soils Compaction, Asphalt Field, HCC Plant, HCC Field and Highway Markings. He received a Certificate from the National Highway Institute in Engineering Concepts and Safety for Bridges as well as Personal Management from Lord Fairfax Community College. Mr. Tewalt has been a member of the Front Royal Rotary Club since 1988. He and his wife reside on Wine Street.
