How to Request New Service

If you need to re-establish existing utility service at your residence or business, please visit our Finance & Purchasing website for information. Our Finance Department is located at 15 North Royal Avenue and can be reached at (540) 635-7799.

Emergencies

Should you experience a problem with the water delivery or waste waster collection service, please contact the Town to report your problem. The Town has personnel on-call 24 hours a day to respond to emergencies. During our working hours 7:00 am until 4:00 pm, please contact the Department of Public Works at (540) 635-7819. For after hour emergencies, please contact our Police Department at (540) 635-2111. Please provide your name, address, phone number, a full description of the problem that you are experiencing, and how long the problem has occurred.

Excessive Water Bill

If your water usage on your utility bill seems too high, please contact our Finance Department at (540) 635-7799 to report your concern. The Town will first check the meter reading to verify that an error was not made when it was read. If your meter reading is correct, staff will inspect the meter to determine if the problem is with the Town meter assembly or if a leak is present in your home. If the Town misread your meter or a problem is discovered with the meter, the Town will adjust your bill.

If there is a leak in your home, please contact a plumber to correct the problem. After the leak has been corrected, please bring your invoice from the plumber to the Finance Department. An adjustment can be made only to the sewer portion of your bill. The adjusted sewer billing will be calculated based on an average of your previous billings. The Town cannot provide any credit toward the water portion of your bill.

If you are planning to fill your pool using Town Water, please contact the Finance Department prior to filling your pool. The Town can adjust your sewer billing if advanced notification is provided.

Sewer Back-ups

If you should experience of backup of sewage into your home, please contact the Department of Public Works at (540) 635-7819 during our working hours 7:00 am until 4:00 pm or the Police Department at (540) 635-2111 after hours. Town personnel will inspect the sanitary sewer main that serves your home. If the main appears clear, you should contact a plumber to inspect for a blockage on your service lateral.

If a backup occurs due to blockage within the Town sanitary sewer main, please contact the Human Resources Department at (540) 635-3929 to file a claim for damage.
